Absolutely Ascot ‘travellers’: How many of the cast are actually from Ascot? Mon 24 September 2018 11:30 Updated Tue 24 September 2019 11:39 Liam Curtis
Carter Sullivan When Absolutely Ascot launched at the beginning of autumn 2018, there was uproar over the cast.
The ITVBe series is set in the small town of Ascot, Berkshire, and follows the lives of party-hard young professionals.
Much like The Only Way is Essex, however, many of the cast members are not from the areas where filming takes place.
Locals even started a government petition to have the series pulled from TV because of the misrepresentation!
So, how many of the Absolutely Ascot cast are actually from Ascot?

The Absolutely Ascot petition
On September 20th, 2018 a government petition was submitted to rename the show due to ‘false advertising’.
The petition was rejected.
Speaking exclusively to OK! Online, an insider said:
Basically people think that if the show has Ascot in the title then it should only have people who are actually from Ascot in it. The show doesn’t have to feature people from Ascot, it’s more about the fact that these men and women socialise and party and work in the Ascot area.

Which cast members are from Ascot?
The title could be misleading, as only a couple of the cast members actually have solid roots in Ascot.
Amber Tucker-Chandler hails from the area and now lives there full-time, similarly Ellie Ball moved to Ascot at the age of 12-years-old and has lived there since.
Alfie Best, Mia Sulley and Henry Simmons are all from Essex.
Samson Lee-Smith and his sisters Courtney and Claudia come from Slough – although Courtney says she spent all her time socialising in Ascot. Leah Fletcher and Chloe Bowler both are from Surrey originally, although Chloe likes to give her home address as Marbella, Spain. New boy Rudi Hewitt is from Staines-Upon-Thames, like Leah.
From newbies Gary Ball and Sam Bernard’s Instagram, they seem to come all the way from Bexleyheath in Kent.

Are all of the cast travellers?
No!
Contrary to the show’s advertising that it is all about gypsies and travellers, there are actually mixes of all communities on Absolutely Ascot.
When responding to criticisms the show has faced on This Morning back in October 2018, Courtney Smith said:
Realistically we’re a bunch of normal people, there is gypsies and non-gypsies on this [Absolutely Ascot] so why straight away has it been mixed with Made in Chelsea and My Big Fast Gypsy Wedding.
