• On January 9, 2023, Ahmaad Galloway passed away. He was a former running back for Alabama.

• He was discovered dead at the age of 42 in his apartment in St. Louis. There is still an ongoing medical examiner, but no cause of death has been identified.

Ahmaad Galloway, a former running back for the Alabama Crimson Tide, passed away on January 9, 2023, at the age of 42. 

The cause of death is currently unknown, as an ongoing medical examination is being conducted. Before his death, Galloway worked as an English teacher for eighth-grade students at Compton-Drew Middle School in St. Louis. 

According to his former teammates, a number of players from the Alabama football team that Galloway was a part of have passed away at a young age. 

Galloway scored 881 running yards and 17 touchdowns during his four seasons with the team. He appeared to be in good health prior to his death.

Ahmaad Galloway was a talented football player who played for the Alabama Crimson Tide between 1999 and 2002. During his time with the team, he rushed for 1,830 yards and 17 touchdowns under coaches Mike Dubose and Dennis Franchione. 

After graduating, he was selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the NFL draft.

Still, injuries he sustained while playing for Alabama prevented him from playing in his rookie season. He was later traded to the San Diego Chargers, but due to injuries and other factors, he could not break into the NFL.

He went on to play in NFL Europe with the Scottish Claymores and Frankfurt Galaxy. After his NFL career ended in 2004, he went back to coaching high school football in Missouri, where he taught and coached until his untimely death.

Ahmaad’s relatives remembered him

An ex-Alabama offensive lineman named Griff Redmill told WVTM13 that “Ahmaad was humble yet mature beyond his years when he first arrived at Bama. He was smart and well-dressed, and I instantly recognized him as someone who could become a lifelong friend”.

According to Galloway’s sister Kimberley Slaughter, “Ahmaad was always quiet and humble. When he was younger, my brother liked football and later adored his children Austin and Aubrey.”

RIP Ahmad Galloway.

Always enjoyed watching him alongside the likes of Santonio Beard and Shaud Williams during some down years for Alabama Football.

Folks, I just read where former #Bama great #AhmadGalloway passed away…This makes me sick to my stomach…Such an underrated RB…He and Santonio Beard were a great combination at the RB position…I think he has 2 young children so please keep them in your prayers…RIP #29
