American College Student Missing In France – Is He Alive?
Sarah Rodriguez Another missing case arose after it was found that an American college student was reported missing after he went to study in France.
It was found that the name of student that went missing was an American college student named Ken DeLand Jr. His parents confirmed that he was 22 years old and was in his senior year at the University of St. John Fisher in Rochester, New York.
His parents said that on November 27, Ken DeLand contacted them through Whatsapp by messaging them. It was reported that he contacted them after he left to catch a train to Valence, France.
Since November 27, he was not active on social media and didn’t share any posts. His father confirmed that his son’s phone was last active on November 30.
DeLand’s family realized the situation and launched a website with the hopes of receiving news about their son, who is missing. They also hoped that someone might tell them about DeLand’s whereabouts.
The police tracked DeLand’s purchases after he disappeared. It was found that on December 3 at 9 AM, he made a purchase with his bank card. The location where he made the purchase was revealed to be the town of Montelimar.
According to the physical details mentioned on his family’s website, he was wearing a scarf, a red jacket, sneakers, a black backpack, blue pants, and a grey beanie when he went missing.
His family also shared a photograph of their son, who was seen entering a sports goods store on December 3. His family writes on the website, “We fear the worst and want him to be located.”
Before he went missing, it was reported that he was attending the University of Grenoble Alpes. He was studying there through the American Institute for Foreign Study, which is an abroad program.
After his disappearance, a statement was released by the program, which stated that it “joins others concerned for his safety and we are working with local law enforcement who have begun a search.”
The statement further reads, “We have been in contact with Kenneth’s family and university and we are hoping for his swift and safe return.“
A liaison from the program approached DeLand’s father and told him that his son didn’t attend the classes.
