Barbara Delaney's Women's Swimming Recruiting Profile
Jessica Wood Personal Statement
UPDATE:
June 2020
I have completed 2 years of NCAA Division I swimming and my current program is not a good fit. I am looking to transfer for my final 2 years of eligibility in a place that my natural leadership skills will be embraced and I will grow as a person and a swimmer.
I have two firm goals for college: to pursue marine biology as my field of study and to swim competitively on my college team. I am a strong student and am working hard to improve my study skills daily to become even better. I am determined to build discipline in both the pool and the classroom to excel. I am developing my ability to set goals and meet them. This past season has been great for that as I met both of my major goals for sectionals. I am excited for the opportunity to learn from my professors, teammates and coaches to be able to offer my best to the team.
I am a caring individual who gets along easily with others and I am comfortable with diversity. In fact I would say that is one of my greatest strengths. I am involved in a variety of activities and have a multitude of interests. I have participated in marching band since 6th grade. I also have played lacrosse for two seasons so far. This year I joined our indoor percussion ensemble where I learned three new instruments to participate in competition.
Outside of school I enjoy snowboarding in the winter and water sports in the summer. I have a strong interest in photography and am constantly looking for that interesting angle.
In short I believe that I am a good candidate for participation at the collegiate level because I am focused on my goals, I get along with a diverse group of people and I am dedicated to securing the skills that I need to excel both in the pool and the classroom.
