Brely Evans was born as the daughter of Carl Evans on December 9, 1972. The 50-year-old actress grew up in Oakland, California.

Brely's father Carl is a sports coach by profession. She mentioned in 2021 that her dad was selfless and always put the family's needs before his own. 

In a Facebook post shared on June 20, 2021, the CA native called her father a bank that never checked credit with any of his family members. Likewise, the actress also maintains a loving relationship with her mother, whose name remains undisclosed.

Brely has occasionally shared photos with her mother where the two appear more like siblings than a mom-daughter pair. Despite many ups and downs through the years, Evans' parents have remained together for decades and still maintain a loving relationship. 

The 72 Hours star feels so blessed to have her parents that she imprinted her mom and dad's photo on her living room furniture.

Additionally, Evans also has an elder brother named Derrick Bedford. According to a FB post shared by Brely, Derrick was involved in the gang wars that took place in Oakland, California, in the 80s. However, he later turned his life around and is now a valuable member of the community. 

Bedford has authored a book called INeverWorry: Emotional Intelligence. In his other book, Black Intelligence: A Different Kind of Smart, Derrick talked about how his sister has contributed to the welfare of African-American society.

On the other hand, Brely's estranged husband Jo Eddings was born as the son of Dr. Donnie Rose Eddings and Dr. Joseph Louis Eddings Sr. 

While Jo's mother has passed away, his father is alive and healthy. Dr. Joseph remains in good shape despite being 87 years old. 

Moreover, Eddings also has two sisters named Cheryl Eddings and Cindi Quarles.
