Cannon Kelley's Football Recruiting Profile
Ava Arnold Personal Statement
I have loved football since the first flag practice I ever participated in when I was 5 years old. When my parents finally let me play tackle in 4th grade, I broke my arm the week before season and only got to play in the last playoff game as a safety. I broke my other arm a year later but finally got to play a real tackle season in 5th grade and haven't looked back. My 6th grade coaches placed me at the linebacker position, and I have played it ever since. In fact, I have been the starting linebacker for the Varsity team my sophomore and junior year and was named captain this 2022 season. I may not be the biggest linebacker, but I am one of quickest and smartest linebackers in the district with a high football IQ. I was up for district defensive MVP but suffered a concussion in the first quarter of the last game while playing offense. Therefore, I did not reach my goal for tackles and the coach of that team did not vote for me as MVP due to my dismissal from the game. However, I have been told by opposing coaches and players and radio announcers that I should win an Iron Man Award (if it existed) because they can see how hard I play, my toughness, and I play with so much heart. I also have become a versatile player this year. I have had to fill in at Tight End and Kick Returner and have video of my success in those positions. In addition to football, I also play basketball, track, and golf, making me a 4-sport athlete, while keeping a 3.9 GOA and ranked in the Top 10 of my class.
Peaster Football is fairly new to Texas UIL and is a large 3A school that competes in a powerful district. In our second year of UIL, we made it to the first round of playoffs. This year was not as successful due to so many injuries. We started with 32 players on the roster and finished with 22. However, this gave me the opportunity to play several positions offensively and defensively, which will help me be a valuable asset to my team next year and my future college team.
Awards for my junior 2022 season includes 1st Team All-District LB, 2nd Team All-District TE, Parker County 1st Team LB and 2nd Team TE (schools include 6A Weatherford, 5A and 3A Powerhouses Aledo and Brock), Top 4 Fan Favorite in Texas 3A. I also finished 3rd in district in golf this season. I received 2nd Team All-District LB my sophomore year 2021.
