The focus here is on exploring local traditions: you can try your hand at Sardinian cooking, crafts or artisan skills, enjoy a Slow Food evening followed by traditional music and dancing, or sit in on one of the talks and related events exploring Sardinian flora and fauna, customs and culture. Guided tours (to caves, grottoes and archaeological sites), as well as treks and jeep excursions around Mount Ferru are also organized.

The wellness centre (a simple wooden structure, partially open-air) offers beauty treatments and massages with essential oils from Sardinian lavender, myrtle and lentisk. There’s a Finnish sauna, herb-fragranced Turkish bath, open-air hydrotherapy pools, and a fitness room with Technogym equipment (which might help burn off some of the calories after the abundant meals in the restaurant). Use of the tennis courts is free (including balls and rackets); bike hire is €3 (£2.50) an hour.

For sybarites, there are two outdoor swimming pools, while a short amble through the pine trees takes you to the beach, where there’s a bar-restaurant, lounge-beds, sun-umbrellas, a few canoes (free for guests) and golden sand as far as the eye can see.
