In the video of the Waukesha parade killer, Darrell Brooks was seen rolling his eyes during the victim impact statements in court went viral. 

The 40-year-old Wisconsin man was found guilty by a jury last month on over 70 counts, including six counts of intentional homicide, which carries a mandatory life term. 

During his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, November 15, Brooks appeared bored and uninterested while the grieving families of the victims vented their agony. His lack of empathy has incited anger from people all over the world who are appalled by his lack of remorse. This video is a stark reminder of the devastation that Brooks has caused and the lives that he has forever changed.

People on social media were outraged by Brooks’ conduct during the hearing, and some praised the victim’s families for their bravery in the face of such blatant contempt.

Darrell Brooks Convicted For Lifetime

Darrell Brooks is incarcerated for the rest of his life. Brooks admitted that he intentionally drove his SUV into a crowd during a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people. 

Families of the victims were allowed to read letters and provide testimony in court in front of Brooks two days before the judge passed judgment on the six consecutive life sentences. Judge Jennifer Dorow set Tuesday for victim impact statements, while Wednesday was set aside for sentencing.

Brooks had a chance to speak before that. He expressed regret and that he had turned to God. Brooks has declared his intention to challenge the court’s sentence. 

The six people killed in the incident were: Kevin Johnson, 53; Carlie Gardner, 36; Genie Boone, 47; Darrell Lane, 54; Tonya Johnson-Matoske, 42; and Michael Taggart, 34. All were from Waukesha County. In addition to the deaths, 16 other people were injured when Brooks drove his SUV into the parade crowd on Dec. 5, 2015. Prosecutors say he did it intentionally because he was angry with his ex-girlfriend who was in the parade.

‘Brooks, 40, will most likely serve the remainder of his life behind bars. Each count of endangerment carries a maximum penalty of seventeen and a half years and a mandatory life sentence for each conviction of homicide.’

According to legal experts, ‘Dorow is expected to give the life sentences consecutively without the possibility of parole because doing otherwise would probably result in a strong response from the community.’

A Madison-based defense lawyer named Tom Grieve declared, ‘This guy’s never getting out. He’s never going to see the light of day.’

The catastrophe left severe scars across southern Wisconsin that still haven’t healed. During Brooks’ trial, several witnesses cried as they recalled how the SUV plowed into the crowd, sending people soaring through the air.

As Dorow announced the guilty verdicts last month, someone in the gallery cried, ‘Burn in hell.’

He afterward constructed a little fort out of his legal document boxes and hid behind it throughout the trial, so the camera couldn’t see his face. 

Dorow said that she had received emails, letters, cards, and gifts, including chocolates and other food, in connection with the case in a note to Brooks and the prosecution this month. 

Brooks could use any impression of judge bias against him as justification for an appeal. 

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, several letters praising the judge’s handling of the challenging case came from watchers of the webcast. 

What Were The Charges Against Darrell Brooks? 

On November 21, 2021, Darrell Brooks Jr. navigated his red Ford Escape through the parade in the heart of Waukesha. 

One of the six fatalities was an 8-year-old child. Numerous others suffered injuries. Last month, a jury found Brooks guilty on 76 counts, including 61 counts of reckless endangerment and six counts of first-degree intentional killing.
