On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Stanton's deal is worth $6.5 million, with a maximum value of $11.3 million.

Stanton spent the past five years with the Arizona Cardinals, making 13 starts in that stretch. He went 3-1 as a starter in 2017 and is 11-6 in 17 career starts.

The 33-year-old posted a 66.4 quarterback rating last season, totaling 894 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.

While he isn't likely to be the answer to the Browns' quarterback issues, he represents another veteran presence heading into next season.

Cleveland finished 0-16 last year, and rookie DeShone Kizer struggled, recording 22 interceptions and only 11 touchdowns. Young quarterbacks Kevin Hogan and Cody Kessler have also played with minimal success over the past two seasons.

The team responded by acquiring Tyrod Taylor in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, a quarterback who has posted a 92.5 rating in the past three years while remaining one of the league's best runners at the position.

"He's going to be the starting quarterback," head coach Hue Jackson said of Taylor after the trade, per the team's Twitter account. "There is no competition."

Cleveland also owns the Nos. 1 and 4 picks in the draft, giving it an opportunity to add a top prospect at the position.

Still, Stanton should have a good chance of making the roster as a backup.
