Former San Francisco 49ers star, Dana Stubblefield was convicted of raping a woman who was mentally delayed as per the report. Also, the report confirmed that he had a gun in his hand while sexually assaulting that woman at his home in Northern California during spring of 2015.

On Monday, Santa Clara Country District Attorney’s office declared the judgment of sentencing him 15 years to life in prison. He was also accused of rape and copulation by force and false imprisonment after a nine-month trial. 

“This was a triumph of resilience. The victim has struggled her whole life with learning disabilities and challenges to be self-sufficient. If we are not fighting for her, then who are we fighting for?” District Attorney Rosen said. “It has been a long road for this remarkable woman and we are thankful to the jury for providing her some closure and, for our community, justice after an unconscionable and violent crime.”

On April 9, 2015, the woman was called in Stubblefield’s home for an interview for a babysitting job. Investigators said that the woman, who was 31 then, left after 20 minutes. However, she returned to Stubblefield’s home after receiving his text that he wanted to pay her. 

Investigators added that Stubblefield told her to leave after giving her $80. But she submitted her report to the Morgan Hill Police Department. 

Stubblefield had been a successful defensive tackle in his NFL career. He earned the recognition of NFL Defensive Rookie of the year in 1993 with 10.5 sacks. Also, The Associated Press elected him the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for recording 15 sacks. In 2003, Stubblefield retired from NFL after playing for Oakland Raiders.
