Former Lovelyz Mijoo Suffered Extreme Side Effects Due to Fast Weight Loss

Back on the March 30 episode of Mnet's program "TMI Show," MAMAMOO members Solar and Moonbyul made a guest appearance. They joined hosts Boom and former Lovelyz member, Mijoo.

In this episode, Solar revealed that she had lost around 8kg recently, and that it was a difficult journey.

"It was really difficult to lose those 8kg. I weighed around 41kg after that. It wasn't an easy journey," Solar said.

Hearing this, Mijoo asked if she had any side effects because of her diet. "Didn't you have any side effects after the diet?" Mijoo asked.

She then shared with the MAMAMOO members and Boom an experience she had when she followed an intense diet in the past. She divulged the extreme side effects that came with it.

"There was a time in the past when I had lost around 9kg really quickly. I had absolutely zero energy in my body [because of that]," Mijoo said.

She revealed that because she did not have any energy, she couldn't even shower properly and couldn't keep her back straight.

Mijoo Recalls Being Unable to Shower Properly Due to Diet

"I couldn't even properly take a shower. If I straighten my back, I feel like I would just throw up right on the spot. Also, I couldn't even get my arms up as well. I didn't have the energy to do that," the former Lovelyz member said.

Mijoo then shows Solar, Moonbyul, and Boom how she took a shower at the time.

"Normally, people would take their showers while standing up like this, right?" Asked Mijoo. She proceeds to re-enact what happened by standing up and pretending as if she was shampooing her hair in the shower.

She then sat down on the floor, curled up her body with her head down, and then started moving very slowly. To this, Mijoo said, "This was how I took a shower at the time. I honestly couldn't even do anything then."

Seeing this, Solar nodded and sympathized with Mijoo. "Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean by that," Solar said.

Following the broadcast of the episode, numerous fans expressed their concerns for K-Pop idols who go on extreme and crash diets in order to lose weight quickly.

Netizens left comments such as, "The side effects doesn't seem like it is something to take lightly," "Their health should come first before their appearances," and "Please don't do that kind of diet again, girls."
