Free Wi-Fi available at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport
Daniel Santos ATLANTA -- Free Wi-Fi is finally available at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport!
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed joined airport officials Wednesday morning to officially announce the service.
"Free Wi-Fi has been a top priority for us and I'm pleased that we are now able to offer this important benefit to our customers," said Mayor Reed in a press release. "At the world's busiest and most efficient airport, we must continually look to meet and exceed the demands of our customers. Wi-Fi is no longer considered an amenity; it is a necessity for today's travelers."
Several hundred access points were installed at the airport at a cost of $5.6 million, according to the press release. The new system can accommodate 15,000 simultaneous users.
Previously, travelers at the world's busiest airport had to pay $4.95 for 24 hours of Wi-Fi service.
Back in January, airport spokesman Reese McCranie said the lack of free Wi-Fi it makes up for 25 percent of complaints.
