Garrett Burton Gee, a well-known travel writer, was born in Provo, Utah, in the United States. He is an American citizen of Filipino, Chinese, Spanish, and American ancestry. He was brought up with four sisters and a brother, for a total of five siblings. When Garrett Gee was nine years old, his parents divorced.
He belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and considers himself a Christian. The American blogger attended Highland High School in Utah, where his father lived, to complete his high school education, and spent his summers in California with his mother. Later, to pursue his interests in industrial design and entrepreneurship, he enrolled in Brigham Young University. When his upstart company obtained funding from Google, he withdrew, nevertheless.
