He was born in Christopher, Illinois in 1917 and passed away in 1999 at the age of 81 due to congestive heart failure. Rayburn began his career as a panelist on The Name’s the Same and as an announcer and substitute host on Tonight!. He also appeared on The Steve Allen Plymouth Show. From 1973 to 1982, Rayburn hosted the popular game show Match Game 73, which earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination in 1967 and three Daytime Emmy nominations in 1975, 1977, and 1978.
