Hassani Campbell was a 5-year-old boy who went missing on August 20, 2009. He was born on September 24, 2003, making him 19. 

He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy’s a neurological condition that causes motor impairments. During Hassani’s disappearance, he might not be able to run and jump. 

Apart from his medical condition, he was able to walk. As per sources, his mother was suffering from substance abuse and health issues, making it impossible for her to take care of her child. 

In December 2008, Hassani was welcomed by his newly born sister named Aaliyah. They moved to their aunt Jennifer Campbell and her fiancée Louis Ross’s house. 

Aaliyah was a year old when her brother, who was five at the time, went missing. Before he went missing, the couple was fostering Hassani and planned to adopt him. 

According to the state division of children and family services, Hassani’s foster parents had no objection to his family and his biological mother’s background. They promised that they would take good care of his medical needs. 

Later, the couple was charged with domestic violence after he was adopted. Jennifer’s fiancee Louis reported that he had “misgivings” about raising a disabled child. 

When the case was taken to court, it was reported that Louis had once left Hassani at his house alone while he went to the Bank. 

Another piece of evidence was shown in court, and according to it, on July 31, 2009, Louis sent a threatening text message to his wife. 

In the text, he wrote that he would leave Hassani alone on a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) platform. Louis then said that he was angry when he said that and did not have the intention to abandon him. 

Hassani Campbell Missing

Hassani Campbell went missing on August 20, 2009. It was reported that he was last seen in Oakland, California, at 4:15 PM. 

Louis said that he dropped Hassani and Aaliyah off with Jennifer and left. Louis added that Hassani was standing outside his 2002 BMW, which was parked at a shoe store on the 6000 block of College Avenue.

While Hassani was standing outside his car, Louis took Aaliyah with him to open the store, and when he returned, Hassani was gone. 

As Hassani had a medical condition of cerebral palsy, he couldn’t wander far away, so an extensive search was performed around the area, but he was not found. 

When the police began their investigation, they couldn’t declare any credibility to Louis’s statement. As per Louis, the area where Hassani went missing was a busy business district area, and people there saw nothing suspicious. 

Tracker dog was also taken to the spot Louis claimed, and the tracker dogs failed to get any scent of Hassani. Nearby residents claimed they hadn’t seen Hassani in the area for two weeks.

Later, the investigation disclosed that Hassani was last seen with his family on August 6, 2009, outside Wal-Mart in Fremont. 

Louis’s BMW was impounded, and Hassani’s sister, Aaliyah, was taken to police custody. A polygraph test was performed on Loius, which he failed, while Jennifer refused to take the test as she was pregnant and wanted nothing to affect the baby. 

The couple was arrested as they were the primary suspects in Hassani Campbell missing case. Louis was to be charged with murder, while Jennifer was to be charged with being an accessory to murder. 

But, no evidence proved that the couple was involved in Hassani’s missing case, so they were released. Since then, Hassani has been nowhere to be found, and the police are still investigating to search for the boy missing for 13 years.
