Student life
At Newcastle, you will develop connections with fellow students from around the world. Newcastle University Students' Union (NUSU) has over 200 societies and sports clubs you can join.
The Hong Kong Society aims to bring together students from Hong Kong by organising dinners, parties, sports activities and mahjong events.
You may also be interested in joining the Chinese Students and Scholars Society that runs events and activities for Chinese students and anyone interested in Chinese culture.

Undergraduate entry requirements
Undergraduate entry requirementsTypically we recognise grades 544 from three Senior Secondary subjects (excluding Liberal Studies, Chinese and Core Maths) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) as comparable to ABB at A level.
You may be considered for second year entry with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or 70% average or grade B overall in an Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma.
Please check course specific entry requirements as they do vary across courses, with ABB typically the minimum required.

Postgraduate entry requirements
Postgraduate entry requirementsTypically we recognise 2.1 in a Bachelor degree as comparable to a 2.1 and 2.2 as comparable to a 2.2.
You may be considered for entry to masters study with an Associate Degree and substantial work experience, but completion of an Associate Degree alone is not sufficient for admission to masters study.

INTO Newcastle
If you do not meet these requirements you may be eligible to apply for entry to a course at INTO Newcastle.
These courses are conducted on our campus and prepare you for studying with us.
English language requirements
If your first language isn't English you will generally need an IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent, to study at Newcastle University.
Our English language requirements section also lists the alternative English language qualifications we accept.
If you don't meet our English language requirements, extra support is available. You could also complete a pre-sessional course to help improve your English before you start your degree. We provide these at our INTO Newcastle, if you will be studying in Newcastle.
You will also receive language support throughout the course of your studies.
Visa
Most non-EEA students need to apply for entry clearance permission before departure to study in the UK. You can find more information on our Visa and Immigration page
