Sometimes it only takes an apology to settle a legal battle, as we are learning in the case of Hulk Hogan against his former BFF. 

The pro wrestling legend has decided to settle his lawsuit with Bubba the Love Sponge after the radio host decided to publicly apologize, per The New York Daily News. 

After asserting Hogan was well aware that he was being recorded while having sex with Bubba Clem's wife, Heather, the shock jock released a public apology, which resulted in Hogan pulling his lawsuit over a leaked sex tape:

After further investigation, I am now convinced that Hulk Hogan was unaware of the presence of the recording device in my bedroom. I am convinced he had no knowledge that he was being taped. Additionally, I am certain that he had no role in the release of the video. 

It is my belief that (he) is not involved, and has not ever been involved, in trying to release the video, or exploit it, or otherwise gain from the video's release in any way. 

The initial lawsuit was filed on October 15 by Hogan, who claimed he had consensual sex six years ago with Heather Clem. 

He was married at the time, but claimed to have already suffered from marital issues with his then-wife, Linda. At that time, Bubba Clem offered the romp to his best bud. 

After the lawsuit, the radio host called Hogan out, maintaining that the house—which Hogan reportedly stayed at for several months—was filled with surveillance cameras. He noted that the former WWE star had to know he was being recorded. 

He is now backtracking on all those assertions, but that does not seem to have helped the website that first posted the leaked video footage, Gawker.com. As the report states, the 59-year old Hogan "is still pursuing his $100 million lawsuit against New York-based Gawker Media in federal court."

A bizarre case takes another odd turn as one friend who felt betrayed by another decides to forgive. And all it took, it seems, was a public apology. 

That should serve to teach all you buds out there: An apology can go a long way. And, as long as we are teaching lessons, perhaps you don't sleep with your buddy's wife—even if he offers.
