James Swinyard's Football Recruiting Profile
Jessica Wood Personal Statement
Since I was 6 years old I have dreamed of playing college football and beyond. I believe I have what it takes to continue playing football after high school and I have every intention of doing so. I am a hard worker, and I am motivated to do whatever it takes to get to the next level. I am 5'10'', 160 pounds and have three years of varsity experience. I started at wide receiver as a junior and was second string free safety. Throughout the season I slowly earned a starting spot at free safety beating out the senior who was playing there at the time. I won the spot with only two games left in league and still managed to receive an All-conference Honorable Mention. Through the last two games of league and the playoffs I became the fifth leading tackler on the team. Our team won league and ended up making it all the way to the state championship game, but we fell short to then nationally 40th ranked Bellevue Wolverines 38-0.
As a senior this year I was nominated to be a captain by our team and coaching staff and ended up being a unanimous first team all-conference selection. This year our team won league, going undefeated for the second year in a row. And for the second year in a row Bellevue ended our season, this time in the semi's. Coming into the game they were ranked 7th in the nation. We started the game strong and were playing lights out "D" as we shut them out, finding ourselfves leading at half time 3-0. However, we were not able to hang on as they came back to beat us 21-10 and move onto the state championship game which they won. Bellevue finished the season ranked 4th in the nation in highschool 3A football.
There are a number of things I feel I can bring to a team. Work ethic is huge, and I have a work ethic that few can top. I am motivated and hungry and I am always trying to improve. I am in the weight room nearly every day and I watch more film than anyone on our team. Also, I am coachable, I don't take offence to criticism and I correct my mistakes quickly. I am a smart football player as well. In all the years I have played football I could count the number of penalties I have received on one hand. Not only do I know what my job is on the field, I know what everyone else’s job is too. As free safety I consider myself the defensive quarter back.
When considering schools I don't have very strict criteria. I am looking to play football and I am approaching this process with an open mind. I will play for nearly any team at any level, other than junior college. I would prefer to go to college on the west coast; however I am open to any and every offer I can get. The strongest criteria I have for a school is its academic excellence, because I believe in a student first approach. I would like to major in business management or international business.
My athletic goals for college are obviously to come in and benefit the team any way I can. I would like to go to a school where I could expect to be playing a good amount of time by my junior year. I am a team captain this year and I believe I can bring a lot to the field, film room, weight room, and class room. I have never wanted something more than I want the opportunity to play college football, and if I am given that opportunity I will take it and run with it.
