In the recently held Kelly’s podcast, Gladwell condemn his immediate dismissal without any investigation. Following the video, Toobin explained and apologize for the same. He said, “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers”. 

He further said “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,”

Fired After Jeffrey Toobin Zoom Video

As mentioned before the leaked video was from last year. The meeting was between the New Yorker and WNYC radio. As the New Yorker is a prestigious organization and to keep its reputation on the top they decided to dismiss him a week later.  Eight months later Jeffrey Toobin returned to CNN as the network’s chief legal. On his first joining, Alisyn Camerota asked him about the incident saying “I feel like we should address what’s happened in the months since we’ve seen you,”. 

The video get worldwide attention and became a meme part. Reacting to the Jeffrey Toobin zoom call one said “This is genuinely the most embarrassing thing that a human could experience, being on national television defending this is literally a nightmare, truly a living hell.”

Some seem happy with the CNN decision to give him a chance. Andre Fraser said “I was delighted to see Mr. Toobin back on CNN. I hope the New Yorker, in time, will reconsider their decision. I know, as you do, of many others in much higher places who have done much worse and have suffered far fewer consequences. As long as he continues to do his job and causes no harm, who are we to judge, condemn and ridicule him for a stupid mistake?”
