Personal Statement

     My name is Jesse Furrow, I am eighteen years old, and I am a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I transferred to Cedar Rapids midway through my junior year because my father's job relocated him to Iowa. I worked hard and had the opportunity to earn the starting varsity quarterback position as a sophomore at Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, Indiana. I was able to successfully lead my team to an 8-3 record in 2012. I also started my junior year at Pendleton Heights, throwing for more than 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. I also set 2 school records for completions in a game (36) and yards in a game (561). Also in that game i tied the school record for most touchdowns in a game (6).  I love football and have a passion for the game. I love to play. I love to practice. I love to study the game and improve as a player and a student of the game. I have a strong work ethic and have a firm commitment to improve myself in every aspect as a player and as a person. I believe that talent alone is never enough to succeed, but success requires leadership, character, and dedication. That is why my faith is so important to me, because it informs how I carry myself on and off the field. Not only do I want to be the best quarterback and football player I can be, but develop into the best person that I can possibly be.

I want to continue my football career on the collegiate level. Whatever team that I play for I want to be a quarterback leader that is a difference maker that helps my team win games and championships. I believe that leadership is influence and I want to be an example of a team player who is willing to demonstrate to other team members a positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership. I would like to pursue a career in either exercise science or sports management. After earning my degree and entering into my career, I want to give back to my family, my church, and my community what they have given to me. I want to give back by investing my time, resources, and abilities to help give others similar opportunities that I have had in my life. To God be all the glory!
