John Crain's Football Recruiting Profile
Emily Baldwin Personal Statement
My name is John Crain. I am a 6’4, 290 pound offensive lineman from North Carolina. I discovered my passion for football at 8 years old, as a lineman, playing in the Cherryville Little Ironmen Optimist League. My love for football continued in middle school, where I was a starting offensive lineman, both my 7th and 8th grade years. I was awarded the “Best Offensive Lineman” award at the end of my 8th grade football season.
As a freshman at Cherryville High School in Cherryville, North Carolina, I was not only a starting offensive lineman, but I was the punter as well. My coaches promoted me from the junior varsity team to the varsity team, where I continued as an offensive lineman. I have played the position of left tackle my sophomore, junior, and senior years, as well as defensive tackle, when needed.
Each summer of high school, I have attended many football camps. This past summer was my fourth year attending the Nick Saban Football Camp, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I was awarded the “All-Saban Award” for Offensive Linemen at this camp in 2017 and 2018. I have also attended the Western Carolina University Football Camp in Cullowhee, North Carolina, Appalachian State University Football Camp in Boone, NC, and Gardner-Webb University Football Camp in Boiling Springs, NC. In addition to the Alabama Football Camp this past summer, I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Football Camp in Charlotte, NC, as well as, Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University, and Gardner Webb University camps again. I also attended The Shrine Bowl Combine, in Asheville, NC and The Adidas Combine in Fortmill, SC.
I am currently completing the second semester of my senior year at Cherryville High School. My GPA is a 3.25. After I graduate I plan to pursue a degree in Athletic Training, and play football at the college level. Ultimately I plan to obtain my masters degree in the field of Physical Therapy.
In closing, my goal for college is to be the best football player and student I can be, and earn a scholarship playing the game I love. I know I have the experience, drive, discipline and commitment to excel on the field and in the classroom. I look forward to earning the opportunity to play for a great football program and obtaining an excellent college education.
