Jordan Santana's Women's Lacrosse Recruiting Profile
Sophia Dalton Personal Statement
I remember when my first lacrosse coach ever told me I could really go far playing lacrosse. Ever since then I have made lacrosse my primary sport and play all year round. I believe that I could make a real impact on any college team I play for. I know that the game of women's lacrosse in college is very different from the game in high school or even at the travel level, but I am very adaptable and will learn adjust to the different rules quickly. I am not only a lacrosse player but a very academic student, as I am in the top 10% of my class and always put school above lacrosse. I do not want just want a rigorous lacrosse program; I want a rigorous academic program as well. I want to become a neurosurgeon when I grow up, therefore I need an outstanding premedical program. I differ from other recruits by being not only an athelete but an outstanding student. I have been told by my coaches that I am a very coachable player, and am a leader. My high school coach also says that I am the most dedeicated player he's ever coached.
I started to play lacrosse because I had player every sport, from soccer to even fencing, and I was good at all of them but I didn't really love any of them. Then, I went to the recreation center to sign up and saw this sport I had never heard of called 'lacrosse'. I was so intrigued by it I begged my mom to sign me up. From the first time I picked up a stick I was amazed with what you could do with it. From then on, I decided lacrosse was the sport for me.
I played midfield for most of my lacrosse career because of how fast I am, but when I got to high school there were too many midfielders so I knew that I would be playing attack. At first it was weird to have to stay behind the denfensive restraining line, but I got used to it. I was always a major scorer throughout my years as a midfielder, therefore it made sense to put me back on attack. I was very excited to be able to stay in the scoring zone and soon enough found myself as the second highest scorer average about three goals a game and two assists. Now, I feel as though I have been playing attack my whole lacrosse career.
