Daniel Foster Larry Graham Net Worth: $3 Million
Larry Graham is a renowned American bass player who gained fame for playing with Sly and the Family Stone, a psychedelic soul/funk band. He is also the founder and frontman of Graham Central Station. Graham is credited with inventing the slapping technique that expanded the tonal palette of a bass guitar. Born in Beaumont, Texas, in 1946, he taught himself to play the guitar at age 11 and recorded his first record at 13. By his teens, he had mastered several instruments, including the drums, piano, guitar, bass, and harmonica.
Graham joined his mother’s band at 15 and developed his technique of thumping and plucking the strings of the bass guitar. In 1966, he started playing with Sly and the Family Stone, and the band released several hit singles, including “Dance to the Music” and “Everybody is a Star.” Graham left the band in the early 70s and produced a band named Hot Chocolate, which he eventually joined and renamed Graham Central Station.
In 1993, Larry was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Sly and the Family Stone. He continues to achieve success and notoriety for his unique style and incredible music ability. Graham is also a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and remains very involved in his volunteer work. He is the father of singer/songwriter and producer Darric Graham and the uncle of Canadian rapper and actor Aubrey Graham (aka Drake).
