The son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, Bronny James’ college recruiting has recently become a big issue, with many predicting which college is the favorite to land the young James.

According to a report from On3’s Jamie Shaw on Tuesday, Oregon has the best chance of securing Bronny’s commitment. Soon after, his father responded to the news, saying that Bronny would disclose his decision after he had made it because it was still early in the recruiting process.

One of the most sought-after high school athletes on the planet, Bronny James’ father wants everyone to know that he hasn’t chosen where he’ll play college basketball. On3 reported that Oregon was the favorite to sign Bronny, and King James reacted to the report. “He hasn’t taken 1 visit yet and has only had a few calls with coaches and universities,” the elder James tweeted. “When Bronny makes his choice you’ll hear it from him.”

The composite rankings of 247Sports place Bronny James as the No. 7 shooting guard in the class of 2023, but oddly, his page doesn’t contain any scholarship offers. There is a “strong feeling,” according to ESPN’s Paul Biancardi, that James would decide to enroll in college rather than pursue a career in sports before he becomes available for the NBA draft in 2024.

In addition to Oregon, USC and Ohio State are the other teams actively chasing James, according to Shaw. Shaw pointed out that although Biancardi had mentioned Michigan and UCLA as having interest in James as well, they weren’t actively seeking him out.

According to Shaw, James performed admirably recently in Nike’s Peach Jam, averaging 15.8 points with a 2.5-to-1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. After his massive poster dunk on Monday during a European Tour exhibition game, he also received some notice on social media.

James is slated to play his senior year at Sierra Canyon High School, which will be a significant one, but he doesn’t seem to be in a rush to declare his commitment. As he seeks to earn a Division I offer, all eyes will be on the son of one of the greatest NBA players ever.
