Linda Vivian Connor-Elliott passed away on June 15, 2023 at the age of 89. She was preceded by her father Willie O. Connor, Sr, her mother Clara Bowens Kirby and her late husband Otis Elliott, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a life well-lived. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Linda dedicated over 40 years of her life to the Portsmouth Public School system, starting off as a bus driver and eventually becoming the ISS Coordinator for about 35 years. Linda was known by her students as “mom” and had a positive impact on the lives of every student she came in contact with.

Her commitment to her community and her passion for helping others will always be remembered. She provided meals for everyone who crossed her door step.

Aside from her dedication to her career, Linda had many passions throughout her life that brought her joy and fulfillment. She was a master of various arts, including sewing, cake decorating, cooking, and floral design. She eventually became a licensed florist and worked for Parks and Recreation.  Linda’s floral arrangements were a reflection of her kind and generous spirit, and her creativity brought beauty to all.

Linda was also a woman of great faith and found solace and strength in her belief in God. She was a long-time member of New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, where she gave back to her community and her neighbors. Linda was a woman who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her son Nathaniel H. Kemp, Jr (wife- Judy), daughter Yvonne Kemp Milteer (husband- William), daughter Keisha Paulette Agosto Gerena (husband- Nelson), siblings Jean Fralin, Maurice Connor – Taylor, Brenda Connor – Benn and Willie O Connor Jr. Also, her 6 grandchildren, Ashley and Jonathan Kemp, Aaron Brown, Maya Milteer, and Zyiiea and Yuzori Graham, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Linda’s presence in this world will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she has created. She will forever be remembered as a woman of great heart, talent, and love.
