A second straight impressive pitching performance kept Mexico alive in the Little League World Series.

Gael Leyva threw a complete game on Tuesday, giving up just one run as Mexico beat Venezuela 3-1, ending the South American nation's run at Williamsport.

Mexico used a three-run fifth-inning to get past Venezuela after an error allowed the South Americans to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

Mexico now faces Japan in the bottom half of the bracket on Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET (ESPN).

Tennessee def. Nevada, 2-1

Tennessee joined the bottom of the bracket after a Monday loss. They rebounded to secure a tight win on Tuesday.

Led by Lucas McCauley's 12 strikeouts, the kids from Nolensville kept their LLWS dreams alive, beating Henderson 2-1.

An RBI single in the fourth and Stella Weaver's theft of home after a pass ball was all Tennessee needed behind McCauley in what was an epic pitching dual.

Up next for Tennessee is California on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Nevada is heading home.

Japan def. Panama, 5-4

Nobuaki Sakaue's RBI single in the top of the sixth inning led Japan to a 5-4 victory over Panama on Tuesday in an exciting, back-and-forth contest.

Up next for Japan is Mexico on Wednesday.

California def. Rhode Island, 9-3

Most of the games on Tuesday were tight affairs. California ended the day with an offensive onslaught, aided by some Rhode Island struggles in the field.

The kids from El Segundo didn't leave their wallets in Williamsport, hammering out a 9-3 win over Smithfield in the nightcap.

Brody Brooks' two-run dinger and Louis Lappe's nine strikeouts paced California in the victory.
