Mason Avery's Football Recruiting Profile
Carter Sullivan Personal Statement
My name is Mason Avery and I am a junior at Madison High School in South Dakota. In school, I take advanced classes to challenge myself and study hard to maintain a 4.0. I am also part of extracurricular activities, such as marching band, concert band, Future Business Leaders of America, piano, Boy Scouts of America, and the Helping Hands Ministry. I also participate in multiple sports, including football, basketball and track & field.
In college, my main goal is to graduate with honors and with a degree in either mathematics or business. However, I want this to go hand-in-hand with also playing college football. My aspirations are to join the football team and work my way to a starting position on either side of the ball.
In football, I play both sides of the ball. On offense I play wide receiver, mostly in the slot. On defense I typically play safety, as well as corner and outside linebacker in certain defensive sets. My work ethic and hard work allowed me to step up into a starting role as a junior, onto a team that has been to the state championship the past five years and won the last three. Great effort and my willingness to put in extra work and reps before and after practice, as well as on off days allowed me to become my quarterbacks favorite target on offense and the go-to man in desperate situations. I also led the secondary in tackles after being moved to a more limited role on defense to "save myself" for offense. I trust and have faith in my coaches, and will fill whatever role they put me in for the betterment of the team.
In the classroom, I always study hard and attempt to get the best grades I can get. I have taken early high school classes while in middle school and challenge myself by taking more advanced classes at Madison High School. I currently have a 4.0 and will be trying my best to maintain that throughout my entire high school and college career.
Wherever I go, I can guarantee that my work ethic and effort will be unmatched in both the classroom and on the field. I always love putting in extra work and have no problem fitting needed roles on the team.
