Andy Beshear wife, Britainy Beshear is an American philanthropist who was born on July 11, 1979, in Rancho Palos Verdes, LA County. 

She is married to Andy Beshear, who is the Attorney General of Kentucky and a Democratic Leader. 

Britainy is passionate about child security and reducing crime rates, and she serves on the board of Mayhurst, a residential program for girls who have experienced trauma.

Britainy’s father, Allan Colman, has extensive experience in marketing and managing professionals. 

He is currently the Managing Director of The Closers Group, where he advises employees on maximizing profits. 

He is also the author of several books on leadership and management. Her mother, Robin Colman, is a Vice President at eBay and previously worked at The Walt Disney Company.

Andy Beshear wife and family are also involved in the Beargrass Christian Church. In 2016, Andy and Britainy opened the Hope Gallery during Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise awareness about child abuse cases.

Britainy and Andy Beshear have not publicly shared details about their love story. However, on their 13th wedding anniversary, they went camping together, and Mr. Beshear shared a loving post about their time together on social media. 

The couple got married on April 1, 2006, and have two children named Lila Beshear and Will Beshear.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear speaks up about mass shooting

A bank located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, was the site of a mass shooting on Monday morning.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear confirmed during an emotional news conference that three of his close friends were caught in the shooting, with one of them ultimately losing their life.

Initially, Beshear told reporters that two of his friends had died, and another was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the attack. 

However, the Louisville Metro Police Department later confirmed that five people were killed, including Beshear’s friend, and eight were wounded. The gunman was also killed.

Beshear expressed his devastation at the tragedy during the press conference, stating, “This is awful…Our bodies and minds are not meant to go through these tragedies.” 

He later clarified that he had been misinformed and that one of the friends he thought had died was actually OK.

The four slain victims were identified as Joshua Barrick, 40; Thomas Elliot, 63; James Tutt, 64; Deana Eckert, 57; and Juliana Farmer. Elliot was a friend of both Beshear and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg.

Beshear urged people to pray for the victims and their families and to support them in any way possible, saying, “Today is a tragedy. Louisville and the entire commonwealth are mourning and we call on everyone to share the love, support and compassion this community desperately needs right now. A senseless act took the lives of our fellow Kentuckians, including friends of mine. What these families are experiencing is unimaginable. They need us to wrap our arms around them and love them with all our hearts. Thank you to the heroic members of the LMPD and all of our first responders who undoubtedly saved lives while putting their own at risk. We are forever grateful. ”

The suspected shooter, a 25-year-old man who worked at the bank, also died during the shooting. He was shot and killed by responding officers, according to interim Louisville Police Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel. 

At least two police officers were also shot during the exchange of gunfire with the shooter, with one hospitalized in critical condition.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Beshear emphasized the importance of coming together to support one another during this difficult time, stating, “We’ve got to do what we have done these last three years after everything.”

Is Andy Beshear a Republican?

Andrew Graham Beshear is an American politician and attorney who has served as the Governor of Kentucky since 2019. 

He is a member of the Democratic Party and is the son of Steve Beshear, who was also a former governor of Kentucky. 

Before his current position, Beshear served as the 50th Attorney General of Kentucky from 2016 to 2019.

Beshear’s tenure as attorney general was marked by several legal battles with then-Governor Matt Bevin over issues such as pensions. He defeated Bevin in the 2019 gubernatorial election by just over 5,000 votes. 

Upon taking office as governor, Beshear called for bipartisanship to solve the state’s issues.

One of Beshear’s first actions as governor was to replace all 11 members of the Kentucky Board of Education, which he fulfilled as a campaign pledge. 

This move was criticized by some who believed it undermined the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990, which aimed to insulate the board from political influence.

However, the Board had increasingly become the focus of political battles in the years preceding 2019.

In December 2019, Beshear signed an executive order restoring voting rights to over 180,000 Kentuckians who had been convicted of nonviolent felonies. 

He cited the disproportionate impact on African-Americans, who made up a significant portion of those affected.

In April 2020, Beshear ordered state troopers to record the license plate numbers of churchgoers who violated the state’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order by attending in-person Easter Sunday church services. 

This order sparked controversy and debate.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Beshear promised to provide free health care to all African-American residents of Kentucky who needed it. He hoped to address healthcare inequities that had come to light during the pandemic.

In November 2020, as COVID-19 cases continued to rise, Beshear ordered Kentucky’s public and private schools to halt in-person learning on November 23, with in-person classes to resume in January 2021. 

This was the first time that Beshear had ordered, rather than recommended, schools to cease in-person instruction. 

A lawsuit was filed in response, claiming that the order violated the First Amendment by prohibiting religious organizations from educating children in accordance with their faith.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Beshear’s order.

In March 2021, Beshear vetoed all or part of 27 bills passed by the Kentucky legislature. However, the legislature overrode his vetoes.

Beshear’s tenure as governor has been marked by several natural disasters, including a tornado outbreak in western Kentucky in December 2021 that devastated the town of Mayfield and killed over 70 people, making it the deadliest in the state’s history. 

In July 2022, severe flooding across Kentucky’s Appalachia region led to over 25 deaths.

Beshear worked with the federal government to coordinate search and rescue missions, and President Biden declared a federal disaster to direct relief money to the state.

On October 1, 2021, Beshear declared his candidacy for re-election as governor in the 2023 election. As of 2023, Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman are Kentucky’s only Democratic statewide elected officials.
