Throughout Guillermo del Toro’s career, he has remained private about his family life, but he had to reveal his divorce after harsh questions from the press after appearing at the 2018 Oscars with a mysterious woman on his arm.

That year, at the most important awards in the film industry, Guillermo del Toro won two Oscars, one for Best Director and the other for Best Picture, for his film ‘The Shape of Water.’

Surprisingly, his acceptance speech was dedicated to Kim Morgan, then girlfriend.  It generated various speculations about the private life of Guillermo del Toro.

In March 2018, Guillermo del Toro officially announced his divorce from Lorenza Newton after 20 years of marriage.

Guillermo del Toro explained to a newspaper, “We separated in February and got divorced in September (2017), but until now very few people knew about it.”

Faced with rumors of a possible romance with Kim Morgan, Guillermo del Toro explained that Kim works with him, and they had a good friendship. 

He also stated that he separated in February 2018. Guillermo started working with Kim Morgan at the end of last summer.

Kim Morgan is a screenwriter, writer, and journalist. She would have met Guillermo del Toro during the production of the film Nightmare Alley, where she debuted as a screenwriter and which took three years to finish due to the pandemic.

In November of last year, it was revealed that he had married screenwriter Kim Morgan. According to the media, the couple had preferred to keep their wedding a secret.

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio won the Oscar for the best-animated film.

After making an identity for himself in Hollywood as the boss of monsters, the filmmaker has determined himself thanks to the most famous wooden puppet in cinema.

Del Toro, 58 years old, the journey has been one back to its origin. The film, which he co-directs with Mark Gustafson, is produced in stop motion, which allows the motion of the figures to be simulated in frame-by-frame photography. 

It is the same technique with which the filmmaker experimented in his first short films. In fact, he thought of making his first feature film in this way, with clay and plasticine characters. 

However, someone vandalized the animation studio and destroyed the puppets he had built with his partner while watching Viridiana.
