The mystery behind the Michael Brett murder case hasn’t been unveiled yet.

The girl named Tracy Jones worked as a secretary at Caldern Pinkston and Associates. Gail Spencer used to handle wire transfers, and he was the office manager at the same firm.

Tracey Jones was also trained to do wire transfers, but she still needed to have the authority. Out of greed, Tracy decided to steal from the escrow account of the company.

She formed a team to carry out the theft, which included Michael Brett Kelly, her friend Anthony Dozier, and her cousin Courtney Kelly.

The plot was to conduct a kidnapping and a steal, but it eventually turned into a s*xual assault and a murder. Gail Spencer was the victim of the murder.

Michael pleaded guilty and hence was able to avoid the death penalty on the condition that he’ll testify against Courtney, Jones, and Dozier.

Courtney Kelly and Tracy Jones joined Michael and pleaded guilty to the matter. In November 2013, the trio was given a life sentence in prison by superior court judge Tillman Self.

The district attorney said, “We’re just grateful to be able to get justice for Gail Spencer and her family and the community on three of the four defendants. Had the attorney not gotten sick earlier this year, we would’ve wrapped these folks up about a month ago.”

Courtney had a chance of getting parole, and the other three were sentenced to life in prison without parole. According to reports, Michael Brett didn’t try to contest his plea or sentence. He is still in Hancock state prison and will spend the rest of his life.

During the kidnapping, Michael tried to suffocate Gail Spencer but could not do so. In the attempt to suffocate, Gill Spencer died. Keith claimed in court that she tried to stop Michael from killing her.

The couple left the house around 4:00 pm. The neighbors suspected something was wrong since Gail’s dog was barking outside. The police forced their way into Gail’s residence and found him dead.
