Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Mitch Russell and I would truly love the opportunity to play football at a competitive four year college.  I am a two sport student-athlete (baseball) at Cardinal Newman H.S. in Santa Rosa, California.  Our team is blessed with an outstanding coaching staff who led us to a 3A state championship last season.  I was fortunate to be recognized as the only 1st team offensive and defensive player in the conference. I feel that my strengths are competitiveness, sportsmanship, versatility, and I am team goal orientated.  I am confident that my coaches and teammates would describe me as 100% dedicated and hard working,  always trying to improve, and a leader by voice and actions.  

Cardinal Newman is a parochial school which holds its students, and especially student-athletes, to  the highest standard.  The academics are very challenging and I have learned to develop study habits that have enabled me to receive grades that are consistently improving.    Community service hours are also required.   I have exceeded my minimum service hours by food service to the elderly and less fortunate, as well as mentoring youth football and baseball players. 

I live with both of my parents and have three older brothers.  My goals are to attend college, play football at the highest level that I can, and possibly join the police force or fire department as a career.
