MLB star Aaron Judge to receive special gift from the city of New York after re-signing with Yankees for 2023 season
Jessica Wood Aaron Judge, a four-time all-star, has re-signed with the New York Yankees after a record-breaking $360 million, nine-year contract. Following the re-signing, he was also named the 16th captain of the Yankees.
The New York Yankees today announced that they have re-signed four-time All-Star and 2022 American League Most Valuable Player OF Aaron Judge to a nine-year Major League contract extending through the 2031 season.

Judge was picked by the Yankees with the 32nd overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft, and later in 2016 he debuted his MLB career against the Tampa Bay Rays. Since then, the 30-year-old power hitter has won two American League Rookie of the Year awards in 2017 and 2022, two AL Home Run Leader awards in 2017 and 2022, three Silver Slugger Awards in 2017, 2021, and 2022, the AL Hank Aaron Award, and MVP in 2022.
His decorative career landed him this new record-breaking, largest free agent deal in MLB history. However, his achievement doesn’t end there. He received another rare honor following the signing in New York City.

With the return of the legendary Yankee, the city greeted him royally. The city mayor will honor this right-hander with a key to the city for his contribution and role in the ‘All Rise’ foundation starting in 2018.

Previously, the US women’s national soccer team received the honor in 2015 and 2019 for winning the world cup, and the 1969 New York Mets team received the honor for the world series winning run.

Aaron has been an integral part of the Yankees’ history, helping them become one of the most dominant teams in MLB and making baseball New York’s most popular sport. The number 99 has appeared on 3161 plates, scored 535 runs in 748 hits, and stolen 40 bases during his seven-year stint in New York.
Furthermore, Judge holds the record for the most home runs in a season, the most home runs in a single season, the most home runs in AL history, and the fastest to reach 60 career home runs. He was also named the AP Male Athlete of the Year in 2022.
