Right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger finds himself in hot water after his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence and child abuse.

His ex-partner, Olivia Finestead, made her accusations on Instagram, revealing the 6-foot-4 Clevinger’s physical abuse and allegations that he threw used chewing tobacco at his child.

There has not been any comment from Mike himself on this issue. But his attorney made a statement and denied the allegations brought by his former partner saying,

“He has never harmed Ms. Finestead or his daughter. We will not comment on Ms. Finestead’s motive for bringing these false allegations. Her baseless threats and accusations over the last few months have regrettably escalated, culminating most recently in deeply disturbing threats toward Mike and Mike’s family.”

The star pitcher’s current team the Chicago White Sox also released a statement to address the controversy.

“MLB opened an investigation after learning of these allegations. The White Sox were not aware of the allegations or the investigation at the time of his signing. The White Sox will refrain from comment until MLB’s investigative process has reached its conclusion.”

In December, Mike Clevinger signed an agreement with the Chicago White Sox on a one-year, $8 million contract. Regardless of whether Clevinger is convicted, he may face a significant suspension from MLB for violating the league’s domestic violence policy.
