The Golden State Warriors have been crowned NBA champions for the seventh time in their history, with their star Stephen Curry being named the Finals MVP for the first time in his career.

Steve Kerr's men came out victorious from Game 6, as they beat the Boston Celtics 103-90 on the road to win their fourth title in the last eight years.

But this time, we are not going to discuss about Steph Curry's 34 points in the last game of the series, but we will talk about the rings given to the champions after lifting the NBA trophy.

After each season, players who win the title not only receive a trophy, but they are also given expensive rings with some significant detail indicating the season in which they were crowned champions. But what are they made of and how much are they worth?

The championship rings

Every year they change the design of the rings and with it alters the number of diamonds and precious stones they can carry. This variation has nothing to do with the winning team and whether they want it to be more or less expensive. It only has to do with the design and the elements needed for the jeweller to put it together.

For example, as many as 400 diamonds were placed in last year's Milwaukee Bucks rings, with 360 of them representing the victories achieved since the franchise was purchased. Another 16 in the shape of an emerald represented the games won in the playoffs that season and 16 diamonds stand for the number of division titles.

The value

As mentioned, the value varies from year to year, but despite this there is an estimate thanks to the fact that some stars end up selling or auctioning off some of the diamonds they won.

The value is between 50,000 and 150,000 dollars. It is said that one of the most expensive ring was the one worn by Drake, a Toronto Raptors fan, when the Canadian franchise became champions in the 2019 season.
