NFL Draft Expert Comps Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels to Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Andrew Mccoy ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller dropped a host of pro comparisons for first-round draft prospects on Thursday, and a few multiple-time NFL MVP quarterbacks were used for USC's Caleb Williams and LSU's Jayden Daniels.
Williams was compared to New York Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, while Daniels was compared to Baltimore Ravens quarterback (and reigning NFL MVP) Lamar Jackson.
"The top overall player in the 2024 draft class, Williams combines excellent arm strength, mobility and field vision with a knack for making creative plays when defenses close in on the pocket," Miller wrote in part on the ex-USC star, who won the 2022 Heisman Trophy.
As for this year's Heisman winner, Miller had this to say in part: "Daniels is not only the draft's best deep-ball thrower -- he had a 99.6 QBR targeting vertical routes -- he's also the most dangerous runner among the quarterbacks."
Obviously, if the teams landing Williams and Daniels get quarterbacks who resemble Rodgers and Jackson, respectively, in the pros, then they're going to be in great shape for a long time. Rodgers is a four-time MVP and 10-time Pro Bowler, and Jackson has won a pair of MVP in just five full-time seasons as a starter.
At this moment, Williams, Daniels and UNC's Drake Maye stand out as the top three quarterbacks available in this year's draft class, although there's still two months remaining for other signal-callers to showcase their talents before the draft kicks off.
Maye is actually the No. 1 quarterback on Bleacher Report NFL Scouting Department's big board, just ahead of Williams. Daniels sits third on that list.
Williams is far and away the favorite to land as the No. 1 overall choice in the NFL draft, per DraftKings Sportsbook. The Chicago Bears currently hold the No. 1 pick.
We'll see where they all go soon enough with the draft beginning April 25 in Detroit.
