Early Life and Career

Nico Williams was born in Pamplona, Spain on July 12, 2002. He was born to Ghanaian parents who were seeking asylum from the Liberian Civil War at the time.

Williams joined Athletic Bilbao youth academy in 2013 and began his senior career with their farm team, Basconia during the 2019-2020 season. In 2020, he joined the reserve team in the Segunda División B and made his team and La Liga debut the following year. He made his debut when he came in as a second-half substitute for Jon Morcillo in a 2–2 home draw against Real Valladolid.

The youngster didn’t score goals until January 6, 2022, when he scored his first two goals in a win over Atlético Mancha Real in the campaign’s Copa del Rey. The club’s win was solely led by Williams as they won 2-o, both goals scored by him.

In January 2022 also, he got his first team contract after meeting several clauses. Although he is a young professional footballer, Williams has an incredible record already. He was named player of the match in a 4-1 away win against Valencian Community club, Elche CF on September 11, 2022. Prior to this achievement, he was a starter in four of the first five matches of the La Liga campaign (2022-2023).
