The convent where Call the Midwife's memoirs originated has been put up for sale because the Sisters living there can't afford the upkeep of the house.

One of the convent's District Midwives was the inspiration for the show, and although it was set in 1950s East End London, the convent is in fact in the heart of Birmingham.
