Sarah Rodriguez The single-round men's major tournament scoring record has been tied twice in three days at Valhalla.
Schauffele opened the tournament with his second-ever 62 at a major and Shane Lowry tied that mark with an incredible round on Saturday.
Another low score or two will be out there on course and it could belong to someone currently in the top five.
Morikawa and Schauffele might have to target 20-under as the winning score because of the potential for a few low rounds from their closest competitors.
Schauffele shot a nine-under 62 on Thursday and Morikawa produced a five-under 66 and six-under 65 in the first two rounds. A low score can come from Sunday's final pairing.
If that happens, Schauffele or Morikawa should outpace the field and come away with the Wanamaker Trophy. If not, a record round could give us the second major winner of 2024.
