Just when you thought you've heard everything, a new study published in the Journal of Sex Research finds that adult film actresses report higher levels of confidence and self-esteem than your average woman. If this news seems a little hard to swallow (sorry, we went there), it's because it is.

Until now, it's been a pretty widely held belief that adult film actresses are emotionally damaged — the product of childhood sexual abuse, among other horrible things. But research conducted on 177 porn actresses and a control group of women with similar socioeconomic backgrounds suggests otherwise.
