Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have been chosen by Netflix to star in a new project that will take place in the fabulous setting of Las Vegas.

The Netflix Slam, an event recently announced by the streaming giant, will see two of Spain's greatest tennis players go head-to-head in a match that will be broadcast on March 3 exclusively on the platform.

It is the latest attempt from Netlfix to explore the sports market after conquering TV and film, and an idea that was originally floated last year before Nadal's injury delayed the process.

They already immersed themselves in the sport with the series 'Break Point' and, after the success of the 'Netflix Cup' of golf, in which several F1 drivers took part - including Carlos Sainz - a duel between Alcaraz and 22-time Grand Slam champion Nadal will attract huge interest from around the tennis world.

Las Vegas will be the setting for the clash, with all eyes focused on the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The full line-up, with additional fixtures set to take place, will be announced at a later date.

Nadal relishing Alcaraz test

"I am very excited for my first visit to Las Vegas, one of the most iconic and entertaining cities in the world," Nadal said, speaking at the launch. "Also to play with Alcaraz. I'm sure it will be a fantastic night of tennis."

Alcaraz, trained by former player Juan Carlos Ferrero, has a schedule filled with exhibitions in this final stretch of the season before the end of 2023. In addition to his clash with Novak Djokovic in Riyadh on December 27, he is due to face Roberto Bautista Agut in Murcia a day later.

He is yet to discover his opponent when he travels to Melbourne for matches on January 10 and January 12, while his match-up with Nadal won't take place until March 3, 2024.

"I am very happy to share the court with Rafa in Las Vegas," the 20-year-old said. "He is one of the greatest players of all time, of course, and his records and achievements speak for themselves.

When will the match take place?

"Rafa is one of the best on the tour and I look forward to our match on March 3."

The match is part of a mini-tour of the U.S. of fast court, with the 'Netflix Slam' taking place three days before the start of Indian Wells, so the Spanish pair will not be forced to make long trips.
