Saints' Alvin Kamara Skips Minicamp Practice for Contract-Related Reason | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Daniel Santos New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara missed the team's minicamp on Thursday as he's looking for a new contract.
Brad Cicala, Kamara's agent, confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Kamara's departure was due to "contract-related" reasons.
According to Saints reporter Nick Underhill, the veteran running back took part in Thursday's walkthrough before leaving. Kamara currently has two years remaining on a five-year deal that he signed with New Orleans in 2020.

However, it seems unlikely that he plays out the final season of his contract. Per Spotrac, his $10.2 million base salary in 2024 will expand to a massive $22.4 million in 2025.
While he ranks No. 2 among running backs in terms of average annual salary, Kamara may value a long-term deal instead as he'll be 29 years old at the start of the regular season.

Although he missed OTAs, he was present at the start of New Orleans' mandatory veteran minicamp until he left on Thursday. Despite new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak installing his own playbook, Kamara hasn't felt left behind after his absence at OTAs.
"I've been in contact with Klint, I've been in contact with guys," he said on Tuesday, per John DeShazier of the team's official website. "I have a playbook, I've got an iPad. It's different when you go do it, right? Looking on paper, I've never been really a paper guy. But nothing's changed from what I've been doing the last couple of years."
After missing the first three games of the 2023 season due to a suspension, Kamara recorded a career-low 694 rush yards to go along with 466 receiving yards. His ability to remain effective in the red zone also took a hit, as he's amassed just 10 total touchdowns over the past two seasons.
