Samantha Whitten's Softball Recruiting Profile
Sophia Dalton Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Samantha Whitten (Almost everyone calls me "Sam") and I have been playing softball every year since I was six years old. I absolutely love to play softball, always have and always will. Throughout High School my coach, Mike Newman, has used me as a first baseman, third basemen, and lately started training me as a catcher (though I had never played the position before). My freshman year I had landed a position on varsity due to my batting abilities, and was put into any position that needed filling throughout the season. This year, my junior year, Mr. Newman signed me up to be eligible for an award that recognizes utility players, but due to some complications I was not able to fulfill the requirement of playing at least three positions throughout the season. I also won Athlete of the Week in a local competition that recognizes players in the Doniphan (Ks) and Buchanan (Mo) counties. If you are interested about this award and wish to find more information you can search Sam Whiten Athlete of the Week, MSCSports.net (name is misspelled due to my coaches . . . ummm . .. unique spelling methods, but we all love him anyway!).
Something that you should know about me is that once I start something I finish it and do it to the best of my ability, and if I make a mistake I take advice and/or watch others and correct it. I am open to constructive criticism and instruction, and have no difficulty controlling any frustration or anger. I am hard-working, a team-player, possess some leadership skills (developed through officer positions in 4-H, FFA, and my high school class), laid-back, attempt to always be in a good mood, and do my best not to complain when things get rough. To most people I appear shy at first, and that may be true to some degree, but warm up and become comfortable with people after a little time. At this point I am not sure what I want to major in (generally interested in science, and plan to enroll into biological sciences if all else fails), but I would like to go to a four year college and compete in softball for that college. I have been a straight-A student for my entire life, inspired by my two older brothers (I had always looked up to them), and had always cared about my education because without education there is little to no foundation of which to build the rest of your life on. I am sorry if I have rambled on too long, so thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement and profile!
