Throughout his career, he appeared in a number of films including “In Cold Blood”, “Perry Smith”, “Dead Man Walking”, “G.I. Jane”, “The Way of the Gun”, “Pearl Harbor”, “Monster”, “The Last Samurai”, “Junebug”, “The Host”, and “The Heartbreak Kid”. He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1980 for his work in the film, “The Ninth Configuration”.

Aside from his film work, Wilson also had notable roles on television. He appeared in 38 episodes of “The Walking Dead” as Hershel Greene and 9 episodes of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as Sam Braun.
