Sarah Michelle Gellar gave her stamp of approval on one of the most divisive denim silhouettes around, but she got a little help from a friend. In a photo shared to her Stories today, Gellar showed off a pair of barrel-leg jeans from Citizens of Humanity, complete with an oversized fit and twisted hems. She styled the jeans with a pair of ankle-strap stiletto heels and a disco-inspired shimmering silver tube top with delicate spaghetti straps. 

Gellar finished the look with a single bracelet and stud earrings, which had their own moment peeking out from her deep, side-parted blonde hair. Gellar tagged Shannen Doherty in the post, saying that her friend gave her a reason to wear her new jeans.

It's not just Gellar that's embracing a more wide-fit silhouette. Katie Holmes and Julianne Moore have also tried out the shape, which incorporates bow-leg seaming and curved, contoured sides. Gellar's tiny top was a way to play with the oversized proportions of the bottoms and added a touch of sexiness with her exposed collarbones.

Gellar recently posted in celebration of her friend for the best reason. Together, the besties commemorated Doherty's 53rd birthday with a lunch date in Malibu.

"Happy birthday @theshando #LetsBeClear I love any reason to celebrate you,'" Gellar captioned an Instagram post. The two enjoyed some paella, which Gellar also shared on her Story, and an olive oil birthday cake.

Fans will remember that Doherty and Gellar became fast friends when they starred in WB shows together in the early 2000s. Doherty appeared on Charmed and Gellar starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When Doherty shared her cancer diagnosis back in 2020, Gellar was one of the first people to voice her support. "Life is tough ... but you are tougher," she captioned a throwback photo of the two of them at the time.
