Shaquille O’Neal has never lacked an opinion, no matter the topic. If you had a question, Shaquille had an answer.

Once the most revered big man in the NBA, he was the candy of everyone’s sweet tooth far as center play was concerned. His game was dominant and he could do no wrong.

Those days are over, and oh how the mighty have fallen. No longer considered a top 20 player and far from the guy anyone would want a sound bite from.

Sentiments of him being a great player are now like his dominance in the paint, old and seldom seen. Replacing them are opinions of a selfish, childish, and egotistical giant.

The guy who once referred to himself as the “Big Diesel” is now seen in most NBA circles as the “Big Dummy.”

The conscientious opinion today is that “Shaq” doesn’t know when to shut the hell up.

He has burned every bridge he has ever crossed. And now, in the twilight of a once brilliant career, Shaq may have ruined whatever chance that remained of him winning a title.

Shaq was once part of the dynamic duo that lead the Heat to two consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances. They would ultimately get past the Detroit Pistons in the second year and go on to defeat the Dallas Mavericks, behind a masterful performance by Dwyane Wade.

Following that season, the Heat would be eliminated in the first round by the Chicago Bulls. Mainly due to the injury of Wade, and Shaq’s inability to dominate the smaller Bulls front court.

After 40 games with the Heat the following season, Shaq would be traded upon request, sighting reasons like the team was going nowhere and he wanted to chase another championship title. Keep in mind that he was as big a reason as any for the Heat not repeating.

Upon leaving, Shaq would take a shot at Ricky Davis, Pat Riley and the Heat organization. 

Shaq would say, "We have professionals who know what to do," O'Neal said of playing for the Phoenix Suns. "No one is asking me to play with Chris Quinn or Ricky Davis. I'm actually on a team again."

The comments of Shaq shocked many, especially those he was speaking on.

Riley would comment on the matter, stating, "It's sad that he says those things," Riley said before the 103-96 overtime loss. "We shared so much here, together, for three years, good and bad, three and a half years, I just think it's sad that he's got to do that."

That was back in 2008; one would think that a grown man would leave well enough alone? But not the “Big Vindictive,” he still had to keep throwing jabs, no matter how pathetic he looked.

Earlier this year, he would go on to say in a SI interview, "I still don't know how we won that championship. F&*%ing partied every night in Miami."

Talk about being an idiot, the dude basically said that he wasn’t focused and showed no professionalism what so ever. He had promised the Heat organization a title and he was willing to risk that obligation by “partying every night.”

Miami Heat in a Golden Position and Shaq is out in the Cold

The Miami Heat just assembled a threesome like never before. They have three top ten players on their roster, thanks to Pat Riley and others putting together a free agent plan to be marveled at for decades to come.

Before the Heat begin filling out its roster after the signings of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. They were in the Market for a low-budget big man to clog the lane and grab rebounds.

Many thought Shaq would be the perfect fit. After all, he is big and all he would have to do is take up space and ride the coat-tail of Dwyane Wade to another title, like he did in the 2005-06 season.

But instead of giving Shaquille a look and ultimately a chance at attaining his fifth NBA championship, the Heat elected to sign four big men that aren’t remotely as good or talented as Shaquille O’Neal, even in his twilight years.

The Heat signed Joel Anthony, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Jamal Magloire and rookie center Dexter Pittman. Talk about the ultimate slap in the face.

I guess it’s safe to say, the Heat got the last laugh.

But rest assured that we have not heard the last of Shaquille O’Neal. The “Big Dummy” can’t help himself.
