Shirley A. Hawkins – Metropolitan Funeral
Andrew Mccoy Shirley Anne Miller was born to Vera Miller and James Martin March 24th 1941. Shirley was educated within the Norfolk public school system progressing her educational cognition to Norfolk State University finishing class of 1968/69. Shirley Hawkins, employed as the first African American women for data entry at the Norfolk police operations center, later owned her own Child Care Center KIDS WEEK DAYCARE for many beautiful mornings and evenings.
Shirley was baptized in March 1974 and served faithfully as a pioneer within the Jehovah Witness faith alongside her husband Brother Wilbert Hawkins of the (Villa Heights Congregation).
Shirley is preceded by her loving husband of 60 years Brother Wilbert Hawkins, her Father James Martin, Mother Vera Miller, Sister Villa Mae Johnson, and Brother Melvin Miller. Accordingly, Shirley leaves to cherish her memories of LOVE her four beautiful sons Brian Hawkins (Tijuana) of Norfolk VA. Mitchell A. Hawkins of Norfolk Aaron D. Hawkins the 1st of Norfolk Jonas J. Hawkins of North Carolina.
Grand children: Britton Skylar, Lawrence W. Nobles., Brandon Sterling, Drashawn A., Tarynn, Anayiah, Aaron II, Ahmad and four great grand children.
Two brothers Walter Miller (Elaine), Vernon Miller, and one sister Florine Culpepper and a host of nieces n (great) and nephews (great) and a special friend Sister Helen Smith.
Shirley will never be forgotten and her legacy will live on through her family and others who loved her very very very dearly. Shirley the angel that walked on earth the earth walker who went further so you can go far, wishes upon a star, which you are, to where you stand as that person of interest my legacy is persisting.
