In some of the United States of America, there are still payments coming people's ways during the month of October. Although the so-called Stimulus Checks ceased to exist as such, there are still plenty of checks that people can collect but have different names and different functions. In most cases, we are likely talking about some type of tax rebate while others are simply one-time payments that go to folks depending on the state they live. If you were amongst the people who received those sometimes called 'stimulus checks', there is some information you need to know directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Forst of all, you may want to file an amended tax return if you got a special state payment and filed your 2022 federal income tax return.

Which states are delivering tax rebates or other stimulus payments?

In the state of Alabama, tax rebate checks are going out during the fall season to those who filed their 2022 tax returns. California has the Middle Class Tax Refund rolling out during the month of October. These go out to California residents who filed a 2020 California tax return by October 15, 2021. They also have to not exceed certain income limits of $250,000 for single people and $500,000 for married couples filing jointly. The state of Colorado has the TABOR refunds, which are cash back payments of $750 for single filers and $1,500 for joint filers who are over 18. In the state of Georgia, the House Bill 162 will offer tax rebates of up to $500 for tax payers who filed their tax returns in 2021 and 2022.

Maine residents are getting $450 payments for single filers and $900 for joint filers from the Winter Energy Relief Payment. Other states that are also getting stimulus payments are Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. All of these in some form of Tax Rebate. Keep an eye out for eligiblity and who can claim these payments with your local authorities. Most of these payments are all coming during the fall season, starting in October.
