French media have revealed that Kylian Mbappe tried to convince Robert Lewandowski to join forces with him at Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The France international had previously turned down Real Madrid's offer to extend his contract with PSG until 2025.

According to Le Parisien, PSG had set sights on Lewandowski before the latter decided to depart Bayern Munich and join Barcelona.

"PSG had just secured the [contract] renewal of Kylian Mbappe and embarked on another almost impossible mission: to bring him together with Robert Lewandowski," the French daily mentions.

However, the Poland international joined Barcelona for whom he has already scored 18 times in 19 games but failed to lead them to Champions League qualification.

They face each other again
