Even though I’m a beauty writer, I’m admittedly not the biggest makeup wearer. But one product I never leave home without? Mascara. I’d estimate I’ve tried dozens of mascaras over the years, from drugstore to high-end brands, with one goal in mind — that one coat makes my lashes so long, they hit my glasses. On the drugstore end of the mascara spectrum, one brand has consistently risen to the top of the heap for me, and that’s Maybelline. So when I discovered that Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara has thousands of fans on Reddit, my entire being (especially my lashes) immediately perked up. 

In a recent report breaking down its most searched topics, Reddit noted that this Maybelline mascara one of its most commonly recommended beauty product by users. That’s not too surprising, considering the fact that it has more than 64,700 five-star ratings on Amazon and 20,000 people have bought it in the last month, per the retailer. Those stats alone made me immediately add the mascara to my cart, but its host of lash-friendly features certainly didn’t hurt. 

This mascara helps lengthen, separate, curl, and fan out lashes, all of which make me say, ooh la la. The waterproof formula is infused with bamboo extract and fibers to help lengthen lashes, while Maybelline’s exclusive Flex Tower brush has 10 layers of bristles to lengthen and volumize from root to tip without clumping or flaking. It comes in two different black hues (Very Black and Blackest Black), and a vibrant blue. Plus, it’s ophthalmologist-tested and safe for contact lens wearers. Seriously, is there anything this mascara can’t do? (The answer would seem to be, no.) 

Speaking of those Reddit recs, I dug into them to see what fans were saying. From the multitudes of raves, a few that grabbed my attention said this mascara “doesn’t smudge” and works for “tiny straight lashes.” People also said it’s like “extensions in a tube” and deemed it their “preferred drugstore mascara.”  One reviewer who admitted to sleeping in their makeup also said their lashes “still looked amazing” the next morning. I’m absolutely sold.

In case you’re curious about other popular drugstore mascaras on Reddit, the report also mentioned L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Original Lengthening Mascara (which is also $9). While researching Maybelline Sky High, I did see quite a few making comparisons between the two and recommending both, so that’s another great option I’m adding to my mascara wishlist.
