Back in 2012, Louisiana-born country artist Trace Adkins collaborated with some country music greats and performed a gospel tune, “I’m Working on a Building.” This collaboration was all for a good cause.

Joining Adkins in the said cause are T. Graham Brown, Jimmy Fortune, and Marty Raybon. Not just showcasing their vocal talents but more importantly, the video was made to help raise awareness for International Cooperating Ministries or ICM.

To note, ICM is a non-profit foundation that has helped build thousands of churches, orphanages, and schools around the world.

With this worthy cause of the project of the quartet, it is undeniable that they sang an appropriate and fitting song for the cause. It is a gospel favorite called “I’m Working on a Building.” True enough, Adkins and his fellow artists brought a tremendous effect bringing awareness for such a cause.

Talking about the video, it was award-winning director Stan Moore who directed the clip. In addition, the video features the four artists as it jumps between clips of them singing in a studio. Also, a time-lapse footage of a church being built was also included in the video.

Adkins and His Gospel Music Influence

As many of his fans would know, Adkins is no stranger to gospel music. Prior to recording this collaboration with fellow country artists, he has already been singing gospel songs. In fact, he roots his music career back to singing gospel songs before his fame came about.

Way back his high school years, Adkins was a member of a gospel music group called the New Commitments. Even though he has never revisited gospel music, he actually has recorded an ample number of gospel songs during his school days. As a matter of fact, Adkin’s most recognizable gospel performance is of the song, “The Wayfaring Stranger.”

Furthermore, this then proves that Adkins is a great and talented singer as he can channel both country and gospel music.
